Musique(s)! celebrates Louisiana’s rich tradition of music sung in French and Creole.
With the support of the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, we are working with six artists and musical ensembles from Louisiana who have made the decision to perpetuate this tradition.
In August 2024, we recorded, at Esplanade Studios, an original album for a total of 12 tracks (2 tracks per artist). We also filmed a short documentary and conducted interviews with each participants to publish a book. These resources, to-be presented in March 2025, will be archived in the permanent collections of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C.
Musique(s)! will also culminate with the presentation of an original exhibit, including photographs or each artist, archival images, and video and audio installations offering an immersive experience into Louisiana’s music.
