MUSIQUE(S)!
THE EXHIBITION
Created for the American Folklife Center – and to be made available in the permanent archives of the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. – Musique(s)! celebrates Louisiana’s rich tradition of music sung in French and Creole.
An ambitious project, Musique(s)! will result in the creation of an album and publication, as well as the release of a film and an exhibition that will be presented at the Historic BK House & Gardens in early 2025.
The song recordings and filming of the interviews took place at Esplanade Studios in August 2024, with six musicians and bands: Leyla McCalla (Grammy winner), Louis Michot (Grammy winner), Sweet Crude, Sunpie & the Louisiana Sunspots, Les Cenelles, and the Baby Dolls.
MARCH MAY 2025
MUSIQUE(S)! is an interdisciplinary project funded by the Library of Congress.

ÉVANGÉLINE: PREMIERE AT THE NEW ORLEANS
FILM FESTIVAL
Narrative Short (10’)
Directed by Cory St. Ewart
In 1940s Louisiana, a young Cajun girl with a passion for the swamp and singing defies her father's prohibition on exploring the wild, only to forge a sinister and mystical bond with a Rougarou.
Featuring elements of the new Southern Gothic, Évangéline will premiere at the New Orleans Film Festival (Oct. 16 to 22) in an Oscar®-qualifying category for short films.
Filmed entirely in Louisiana French, Évangéline was directed by Cory St. Ewart and produced in association with the New Orleans Foundation for Francophone Cultures.
